Project Manager (IT)

I. Position Summary

The Project Manager (IT) is responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating project activities to ensure successful completion within defined timelines and budgets. This role oversees all phases of assigned projects, either directly or through subordinate supervisors, ensuring quality delivery, stakeholder satisfaction, and operational efficiency.


II. Authority

  • Authority to sign contracts and contract modifications as delegated in the proposal
  • Approve non-project-related expenditures up to $500
  • Approve project-related expenditures up to $100,000

For assigned projects, the Project Manager has authority to:

  • Make day-to-day decisions regarding scope, cost, schedule, quality, and communications
  • Facilitate meetings and project discussions
  • Act as a company representative in negotiating contracts, subcontracts, change orders, and purchase orders
  • Exercise direct authority over site personnel
  • Approve change orders and additional equipment outside the original contract scope

III. Key Responsibilities

Project Planning & Execution

  • Develop, maintain, and update project schedules and budgets
  • Establish project timelines and ensure adherence to milestones
  • Conduct site visits and support bid preparation for new opportunities
  • Solicit bids from subcontractors and suppliers; perform estimates and takeoffs

Contract & Financial Management

  • Negotiate subcontracts and purchase orders
  • Prepare and manage subcontract agreements and procurement documents
  • Develop and negotiate change order proposals
  • Review and approve subcontractor and supplier invoices
  • Support invoice preparation and financial tracking

Project Oversight & Coordination

  • Review submittals, plans, and specifications for accuracy and compliance
  • Ensure proper job documentation is prepared, submitted, and maintained
  • Coordinate and communicate with subcontractors, suppliers, and clients
  • Provide regular project status updates to senior management

Team Leadership & Support

  • Lead, train, and motivate project teams and site personnel
  • Conduct briefings and orientation for on-site staff
  • Provide guidance and support during project execution
  • Facilitate meetings and resolve project-related issues

Quality Assurance & Closeout

  • Ensure compliance with project requirements and standards
  • Assist in resolving technical and vendor-related challenges
  • Oversee submission of all closeout documentation upon project completion

IV. Required Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree required and 3–5 years of experience, OR
  • 7–10 years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree
  • Foundational knowledge of project management methodologies (PMP preferred)

  • Strong understanding of:
    • Project budgeting and accounting principles
    • Blueprint and technical document interpretation
    • Project lifecycle and delivery processes
  • Ability to gather, assess, and integrate information effectively
  • Strong decision-making and problem-solving capabilities
  • Ability to identify project risks and critical success factors

Additional Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship required
  • Must be able to pass a federal background investigation
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001:2015 preferred
  • Strong mathematical aptitude

V. Software Proficiency

  • Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Publisher)
  • Adobe Acrobat
  • Internet applications and browsers
  • WinZip and general file management tools
  • Experience with graphics software and Dell applications preferred

VI. Equipment Utilization

Ability to operate and utilize standard office and project-related equipment, including:

  • Computers and office systems
  • Printers, copiers, scanners, and fax machines
  • Mobile devices (cell phone)
  • Broadband internet, routers, and LAN connectivity
  • Job site equipment as required
